Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Set Behavior Exposed by The Rip Director

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are starring together in new movie The Rip. The pair have famously been close pals for decades – but how does that friendship work on set? The film’s director has revealed how the pair really act when the cameras aren’t rolling. And good news: it’s probably exactly how you’d expect them to.

Joe Carnahan revealed how Matt Damon and Ben Affleck behaved between takes

At The Rip’s NYC premiere, director Joe Carnahan told People about the “brotherly” relationship between the two stars. He revealed: “Oh, they razz each other endlessly. It’s the way brothers go at each other. It’s the way my brother and I talk: we just endlessly clown the other person and that is them.” He concluded: “It’s very brotherly, their relationship.”

Joe also noted how the pair’s shared success was kind of unlikely. He said: “You got two guys; you’re trading on a 40-year friendship, you’re trading on them both being movie stars, which almost never happens. Think about that, these two best friends become movie stars.”

Matt recently opened up about how he’d supported Ben through a tough period where he was drinking too much. Ben also reflected on the pair’s long-standing friendship, telling reporters at the premiere of The Accountant 2: “It’s a beautiful thing. You know, I don’t have very many – none of us really have very many friends.” He added: “You don’t need a million friends. You need good ones. I’m really lucky to have had a friend in Matt.”

The Rip follows Ben and Matt as cops JD Byrne and Dane Dumars, whose crew starts turning on each other once they find a huge amount of cash at a safe house.

The pair recently stopped by the Today show to promote the movie, where Ben let slip one thing he dislikes about Matt.
