When Southern Charm’s Venita Aspen abruptly left Madison LeCroy’s sleepover after her fight with Salley Carson, it was very odd. It seemed of out of character for her to just stomp out à la Craig Conover.
But now we know there’s more to the story. Though she seemed to be in perfect health, in reality, Venita was in a lot of pain. “I was thinking [it] was my stomach,” she told producers. “For probably five days … I did everything under the sun. I got an IV bag, I went to the doctor, and I was taking a bunch of medicine.”
Though she tried to power through, Venita finally gave in and went home.
Venita Aspen was “dying of a f*cking kidney infection”

After she left the party, she called a show producer, who picked her up and took her to the ER. Once there, Venita discovered the cause of her pain. “For one, I was dying of a f*cking kidney infection,” she told Charley Manley on Bravo’s Daily Dish. “I’ll never forget that night. That was so bad … At 1 a.m., learned I had a kidney infection.”
It wasn’t until later that Venita was able to tell the others what really happened at Madison’s party. “I walk out on Salley, and I’m screaming at her,” the influencer admitted. “But the first person I call when I realize I have to go to the hospital is Salley.” Unfortunately, Salley couldn’t take her to the ER. She’d been drinking, so Venita called a show producer instead.
In hindsight, her friends could finally make sense of Venita’s hasty departure. They knew she and Salley were in disagreement over Craig, but Venita’s exit seemed a little overly dramatic.
Ultimately, Molly O’Connell called Venita’s illness a “very valid” reason to leave the party. “Her being physically in pain probably made her mentally, like, less able to deal with the f*ckery of it all,” she confessed.
Southern Charm airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock.
