Last night, Calla Lily’s mask came off on The Masked Singer, revealing Teddi Mellencamp’s smiling face underneath. For those who watched Teddi on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, you likely already guessed Teddi’s identity. That said, three out of four judges didn’t. And that was shocking, actually, because her clue package could not have been any clearer.

Last season, RHOBH’s Erika Jayne also starred on The Masked Singer. She entered this competition series as the beloved pup named Yorkie. But her clue package was just as easy to crack as Teddi’s. Or maybe I know far too many Real Housewives trivia facts.

Either way, The Masked Singer just said goodbye to another RHOBH star by way of Teddi. Here’s a recap detailing her clue packet, the judges’ predictions, and Teddi’s closing thoughts following her unmasking as the Calla Lily flower in Season 14.

All the clues Teddi Mellencamp was on The Masked Singer Season 14

Every contestant on The Masked Singer films a pre-recorded, lively teaser, complete with hints about their masked identities. These live-action videos air right before they perform. And that, plus the way each singer carries themselves, typically helps everyone guess their likenesses. However, only one judge correctly guessed Teddi’s name, so let’s take a look at Teddi’s clue package to understand why.

During week two, Calla Lily performed Rachel Platten’s hit track “Fight Song.” In her clue package, this character hinted about a recent, life-changing health diagnosis. And as RHOBH fans know, Teddi was diagnosed with stage II melanoma in October 2022. In February 2025, her cancer metastasized to her brain and lungs, and she remains in treatment today.

Then, during her appearance in week four, The Masked Singer observed the 250th birthday of the United States. So, Calla Lily suggested that one of her loved ones is well-known for their honoring of the U.S.A. “I can’t celebrate America and not mention an American legend,” she said, further teasing, “He’s an icon, but to me, he’s so much more.” Yes, she was talking about her father, recording artist John Mellencamp.

And finally, the judges received their last tangible clues: a gummy bear, a diamond house key, and a cougar T-shirt. Immediately, one of the judges realized Calla Lily’s identity.

Only one Masked Singer judge correctly guessed Teddi’s identity

After Teddi’s character performed “Jack and Diane,” one of her father’s iconic songs, the four judges continued to scratch their heads. However, this particular performance did make Jenny McCarthy rave about how much Calla Lily had “blossomed.” And then, in reviewing all of Calla Lily’s clues, this same judge’s ears finally perked.

“I see a house key, and I see a diamond. And that sounds like a Beverly Hills Housewife to me,” Jenny explained. “Put the clues together: gummy bear. Bear. Teddi. Cougar, dad’s nickname. Mellencamp. Cougar. This is Teddi Mellencamp from the Housewives,” Jenny accurately predicted.

But she also interjected some humbleness here by admitting that she “could be wrong.” However, the clue packages did point “in [Teddi’s] direction,” Jenny noted. And just in case she was right, Jenny next spoke to Teddi, who was still wearing her Calla Lily mask, saying, “I just honor your journey, girlfriend, and I feel so honored to have you here.”

After being voted off and forced to reveal her true identity, Teddi finally unmasked herself, making Jenny the only right judge on her panel.

Meanwhile, Rita Ora chose Selma Blair, while Ken Jeong guessed Christina Applegate. As for Robin Thicke, he stood ten toes down that Calla Lily was Danielle Fishel, since Danielle had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Teddi gave an emotional message as her Masked Singer journey came to an end

Following her unveiling on The Masked Singer, Teddi took everything in. And then, she offered an emotional statement about her journey.

“I’m not a singer by trade, clearly, and so that part was challenging for me,” she began. “Also, a big part of my memory has been askew since my brain surgery. So I was a little bit nervous. But I was excited to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something new, and it felt like it gave me a little bit of life,” Teddi emotionally stressed.

Teddi’s life took a drastic turn following her 2025 health update. Instead of fighting over trivial matters on RHOBH, Teddi had no choice but to gather up her courage and fight for her life. In doing so, her days quickly filled with surgeries and treatment options to knock back her cancer. So, when we heard Teddi admit that The Masked Singer injected “a little bit of life” back into her steps, reality quickly settled into our hearts.

Alyson Hannigan has her sights set on a Mirrorball trophy at the end of her Dancing with the Stars journey. So much so, she’s calling in some A-list friends for help.

During the rehearsals for the special Disney 100 Night on DWTS, the former How I Met Your Mother actress and her pro partner, Sasha Farber, welcomed a super special surprise visitor. Alyson’s friend and DWTS Season 31 alum Selma Blair turned up, along with her dog Scout.

“Selma’s the best guest,” Alyson, 49, said happily. “It was so wonderful to see everybody surround her with love; even her dog was so excited to be back in the studio. She’s such an inspiration.”

Selma, 51, was also partnered with Sasha, 39, when she was previously part of the reality dancing television series. She was a fan-favorite contestant but had to gracefully bow out during the fifth week due to ongoing health concerns. Selma was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2018.

Alyson shared that Selma gave her some helpful advice heading deeper into the competition. She revealed what Selma shared: “Definitely to breathe, and just leave the weight of the world outside. Just to be present. She was wonderful. She’s the reason I wanted Sasha as my partner so bad.”

As for the dance pro, he was thrilled to see Selma, too. “It was great to have her in the studio again,” he said. “And you know, taking a photo of the three of us was like, ‘Oh, maybe we should bring back trio week.’ That would be so cool.”

Alyson and Sasha recently danced to the Disney classic “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast.

The wardrobe department went all out for the duo’s iconic look for the dance! They gave Alyson a candlestick-inspired look with sky-high hair and glittery eye makeup painted to look like flames.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice tried to shake her groove thing. If you blinked, you probably missed her. Actress Selma Blair, who has multiple sclerosis, had to leave the competition due to health concerns. She was amazing.

Longtime judge Len Goodman announced that he was retiring at the end of the season. I actually cried. After 26 seasons, two-time mirror ball champ Cheryl Burke also decided to exit the ballroom.

TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and returning pro Mark Ballas claimed mirrorball glory. Bachelorette star Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy came in second place.

Actor Daniel Durant, who starred in the movie CODA, is deaf. He danced with pro Britt Stewart. Judge Derek Hough was impressed with Daniel’s dancing. “With Daniel [Durant], it’s wild to see what he’s able to accomplish,” Derek stated. “And you know, his musicality is amazing, it’s mind-boggling.”

Daniel and Britt were sent home during the semi-finals. I always loved watching them dance. They had sizzling chemistry.

Now Page Six is reporting that the duo is dating. Daniel made it Insta official when he posted a photo hugging Britt. “My Valentine. Happy Valentine’s Day!” he wrote with a heart emoji.

Britt shared her own Valentine’s Day post on Instagram. It showed the couple dancing to Montell Fish’s “Fall in Love With You.”

The couple’s DWTS family gave them some love in the comments. Witney Carson wrote, “Is this a soft launch??? love you both!!” Selma wrote, “I love this so so much” with heart emojis.
Charli posted, “cuties.” Teresa’s Season 31 partner, Pasha Pashkov, added, “Happy Valentine’s Day you lovebirds!!!”

We don’t know if their romance blossomed during the show or while they were on the DWTS tour. Ahead of Season 31, Britt learned American Sign Language so that she could communicate with Daniel.

In September 2022, Daniel told US Weekly, “She knows how to sign, she’s learning how to sign. Before, my interpreter … he’d be there interpreting for us at practice, and now he fades away during practice and it’s nice. She understands me,” he added.

Later on, during the session, Daniel shared his nickname for Britt. “If we’re texting, I call her B-shine. Because that’s like the sign, it’s the shine from my heart,” he explained. That is so sweet!

DWTS has a history of couples falling in love in the ballroom. Nikki Bella met pro dancer Artem Chigvintsev on the show. They recently said “I Do.” Pros Jenna Johnson and Val are married. Val’s brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, tied the knot with pro Peta Murgatroyd.

The remaining competitors will dance both a redemption routine, with the input of one of the judges, and a freestyle. This finale is the tightest race in a long time. So, get your glitter and confetti cannon ready. Let’s go!

The First Four Eliminated Couples Return

Jason Lewis and pro Peta Murgatroyd hit the floor with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and partner Pasha Pashkov. They were joined by Cheryl Ladd and pro Louis Van Amstel and Sam Champion and Cheryl Burke.

Judge Derek Hough was scheduled to dance with his fiancée Hayley Erbert tonight, but she was injured and can’t dance. But she is in the audience.

Shangela and Gleb Savchenko

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela and partner Gleb Savchenko found themselves in the bottom three last week. This couple is paired with judge Bruno Tonioli. Bruno wants to see Shangela address issues with her frame in her Redemption Quickstep. Shangela and Gleb danced to Rochelle Diamante’s “Queen Bee.”

Bruno pointed out that Shangela went on the wrong foot. Judge Len Goodman called the routine “fun and full of energy.” The couple scored 36/40.

Wayne Brady and Witney Carson

Comedian Wayne Brady and pro Witney Carson are working with Len. He wants to see a good frame in the couple’s Redemption Quickstep. This is a bittersweet moment with Len retiring.

Witney and Wayne danced to Jackie Wilson’s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.” Len said that the routine needed “a little bit more flow.” Derek called out an error in Wayne’s footwork. They received 36/40 from the judges.

Cheryl Burke is Departing

Cheryl, who has been a pro for 17 years, is leaving DWTS. She was the first woman to bring home the mirrorball trophy. Iconic! Cheryl danced a routine with her two favorite pros, Louis and Pasha, to the Barry Manilow song “Copacabana.” I’m sad that Cheryl is leaving.

More Couples Return to Dance

Joseph Baena and pro Daniella Karagach hit the floor once again with Jessie James Decker and partner Alan Bersten. Pro Brandon Armstrong and American Idol alum Jordin Sparks completed the group.

Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas

TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and her partner, Mark Ballas, are paired with judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Carrie Ann chose a Redemption Jive for the couple. The judge would like to see more emotion from Charli.

The duo danced to “Grown” by Little Mix. Charli ended the dance perched on the judge’s table. Carrie Ann said that Charli “danced for you guys with her heart.” Bruno dubbed Charli, “The Queen of Jive.” The duo scored 40/40.

Selma Blair Dances with Sasha Farber Once Last Time

It was an emotional moment when actress Selma Blair and her partner Sasha Farber left the competition because of Selma’s health issues. The couple danced a gorgeous contemporary piece to “No Air” performed by Jordin Sparks.

Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy

The Bachelorette star Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy are working with Derek. Last week, Gabby opened up about her recent split from her fiancé, Erich Schwer. Derek wants to see Gabby grounded more to the floor in their Redemption Cha Cha.

The duo danced to Pete Rodriguez’s “I Like It (Like That.)” Derek said that Gabby “redeemed that cha cha.” Len loved their chemistry and technique. They received a score of 40/40.

Four More Eliminated Couples Dance Again

Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev and Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino and pro Koko Iwasaki returned to the ballroom. They were joined by Trevor and Emma and Daniel and his partner, Britt.

Len Reflects on His Favorite Moments

Len was tapped to judge DWTS three days before the show premiered. He remarked, “All good things have to come to an end. For me, it was such a privilege being a part of Dancing with the Stars.” Len was thrilled to do the twist with Chubby Checker and to watch Buzz Aldrin and Sugar Ray Leonard dance on the show. Host Alfonso Ribeiro presented Len with his own mirrorball trophy. Len was ecstatic! I am so bummed out to see him leave.

Later on, former cast members thanked Len and recalled their favorite memories in a video package. The judges also weighed in.

The Freestyle Round

Next up is the most anticipated dance of the season. Viewers will see the contestants exhibit their creativity and see how much they have grown as a dancer. So, whose freestyle is going to be epic? Let’s find out!

Wayne and Witney

The couple danced their freestyle to “Get Up /24K Magic” by Ciara ft. Chamillionaire/Bruno Mars. Their routine was funky and entertaining to the max. Derek called it “a perfect freestyle.”
Carrie Ann called it “ridiculous” and said that Wayne was holding out on them. The couple scored 40/40.

Charli and Mark

The duo performed their freestyle to Pinar Toprak’s “Us Again.” The routine is about the duo falling back in love with dance. There were no incredibly elaborate sets or other dancers in the piece.
Derek was moved to tears. He called it “powerful” and praised the duo’s connection. Bruno called it “a celebration of dance.” They scored 40/40.

Gabby and Val

Gabby and Val danced their freestyle to “Cell Block Tango” from Chicago. Gabby turned in a sexy performance with Val and the male pros. Bruno called Gabby “guilty of being lethally hot.” Carrie Ann said that Gabby was “impressive.” Val gave a shout out to his wife, DWTS pro Jenna Johnson, who choreographed the routine. The duo scored 40/40.

The DWTS LIVE 2023 Tour Dancers Hit the Ballroom

The group danced to the song “100% Pure Love” by Crystal Waters. Gabby will be appearing at all the tour stops. Charli, Heidi, Vinny, and Daniel will be performing in select cities.

Shangela and Gleb

This duo performed their freestyle to “Survivor/Call Me Mother” by Destiny’s Child/ RuPaul. Shangela brought a high-energy drag performance to the ballroom, including crispy, dancing chicken legs. Gleb was in drag, too. Len forgot to vote because he “was absolutely mesmerized.” Bruno said he felt “like he won the lottery.” Shangela and Gleb scored 40/40.

The Leaderboard

Gabby and Val and Charli and Mark are tied at the top of the leaderboard with 80 points. Wayne and Witney and Shangela and Gleb are tied for third place at 76 points.

Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke competed on Season 31 with weatherman Sam Champion. Their journey ended on Disney+ night when the judges saved actor Trevor Donovan and pro Emma Slater.

In August of 2022, Cheryl celebrated four years of sobriety. She marked the milestone with a TikTok video set to Billie Eilish’s song “Bad Guy.” And Cheryl’s divorce from Matthew Lawrence was finalized in September 2022.

This season on DWTS, actress Selma Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, was an inspiration to both her co-stars and viewers. She turned in great performances every week with her partner, Sasha Farber.

Unfortunately, Selma had to withdraw from the competition  on October 17, 2022 because of complications with her health. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, symptoms of MS include fatigue, difficulty walking, memory and speech issues, and pain.

Selma explained to Sasha why she had to drop out in a pre-taped package. “I had these MRIs and when the results came back, it just all adds up to I can’t,” Selma stated. “I can’t go on with the competition. I pushed as far as I could,” she added.

The couple performed one final dance together, a graceful waltz to “What the World Needs Now Is Love” by Andra Day. The DWTS judges gave the couple a perfect score of 40/40. The score was symbolic since it wouldn’t count for the competition.

Selma shared her gratitude for her time in the ballroom. “This was a really emotional night for me,” the Legally Blonde actress stated. “Because it was filled with so much love for me and my love for everyone here is really, really, really returned.”

Sasha spoke highly of his DWTS partner. “She has not only inspired myself but so many people around the world … there’s nothing this lady can’t do.”

Cheryl also spoke about her time with Selma. People reported that Cheryl shared a special message about Selma on her Instagram Story. You are a true angel.”

Selma’s Instagram Story was filled with reposts from her DWTS pros and co-stars. Pro dancer Witney Carson wrote, “There aren’t words to tell you how special you are. I love you so much!”

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba also shared her thoughts. “Bravo for your courage to join the show. And bravo for the wisdom to know it was time to stop and keep yourself safe,” she wrote. “I have so much love and respect for you.”

The D’Amelio Show star Dixie D’Amelio, whose mother, Heidi D’Amelio, and sister Charli D’Amelio are both competing, also posted a note for Selma. “You are amazing @selmablair. PERFECT SCORE,” she wrote. “Such an inspiration.”

Judge Derek Hough weighed in on Selma’s impact on DWTS. Derek was touched by how kind Selma was to everyone, from the crew to the hair and makeup team. “She’s so kind, so gracious, just so excited, never complains,” Derek stated. “Of all the people that could probably complain, she didn’t. She loved being here and she loved the people.”

Derek continued, “She has forever left her mark on this show, without a doubt. I think that what she achieved and what she did — and the way she did it, with such grace — it’s just perfection,” he added.

Last week on Dancing with the Stars, country singer Jessie James Decker and pro Alan Bersten were sent home when the judges voted to save Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater.
Pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy was the victim of a cruel trick when he was diagnosed with Covid-19. So, while Val has to sit out this dance, Alan will be filling in for him and partnering Bachelorette star Gabby Windey.

Tonight is Halloween, which makes this DWTS episode even more frightfully delightful. The judges are all dressed in their Halloween best. So, grab your fave candy, and let’s get into the recap!

Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong

American Idol alum Jordin Sparks and pro Brandon Armstrong performed a tango to “Oogie Boogie’s Song” by Ed Ivory and Ken Page. Judge Len Goodman called the performance “spirited” and said it was her best dance to date. The duo scored 36/40, with her first 9 from Len.

Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas

TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas scored a 50/50 last week and topped the leaderboard. Mark is having low back issues, so pro Pasha Pashkov is stepping in to train with Charli for the Argentine Tango. Pasha was paired with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice until she was eliminated. Mark and Charli danced to “Tanguera” by Fabio Hager Sexteto. Holy hotness! And check out that exorcist back walk thing! Judge Carrie Ann Inaba praised Charli but felt that intimacy was lacking. The judges gave the couple 39/40.

Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart

Actor Daniel Durant and his partner Britt Stewart danced the Paso Doble to “Bury a Friend” by Billie Eilish. Daniel was ill this week, so the duo lost out on some rehearsal time. The couple portrayed gamers in a post-apocalyptic game. Judge Bruno Tonioli said that Daniel only missed a fraction of one step. Len wasn’t thrilled because it lacked the main elements of the Paso Doble. Britt and Daniel scored 34/40.

Shangela and Gleb Savchenko

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela and partner Gleb Savchenko danced a jazz routine to Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” As a bonus, they dressed as creepy dolls.  Carrie Ann called the performance “amazing” and praised Gleb’s choreography. Judge Derek Hough told Shangela that he would be having nightmares about the scary performance. The duo scored 40/40. HalleBoo!

Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki

Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino and pro Koko Iwasaki landed at the bottom of the leaderboard last week. The duo is dancing the Paso Doble as zombies to “Get Ghost” by Mark Ronson, Passion Pit, and ASAP Ferg. Derek encouraged Vinny to find the texture in the dance. Bruno praised Vinny for not making any errors this week. Koko and Vinny earned 30/40.

Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvinstev

Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev danced the tango as captured aliens to “I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE” by Måneskin. The star of The D’Amelio Show and Artem started the routine attached by a plastic band. Derek called it their best dance. Carrie Ann complimented Heidi’s precision but disliked the plastic band section at the beginning. Artem and Heidi scored 37/40.

Gabby Windey and Alan Bersten

Gabby is dancing without Val tonight. She danced the Argentine Tango with Alan to “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran. The vampire duo performed a steamy routine. Carrie Ann “was proud” of Gabby. Derek stated that their performance “was fangtastic.” The duo earned 38/40.

Wayne Brady and Witney Carson

Actor and singer Wayne Brady and pro Witney Carson danced a cyborg contemporary number to “Halloween Theme” by District 78. Len called the performance “high-octane,” but he wanted to see a different side of Wayne. Bruno called it “clever” and “superb.” Wayne and Witney received 37/40 from the judges.

Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater

Trevor  and Emma danced a contemporary routine to “Ghost (Acoustic)” by Justin Bieber. Emma portrayed a ghost who visited her living husband. I loved this emotional performance. Derek praised Trevor’s growth and called the routine “fantastic.” Bruno admitted that he had goosebumps. Trevor and Emma scored 39/40.

The Team Dances

The team dances are back after a two-year hiatus. The team score will be added to each competitor’s individual score. This will be interesting!

Team Wicked

Vinny is the team captain. He chose Shangela, Gabby, Heidi, and Jordin. The team danced to the song “The Witches Are Back” from Hocus Pocus 2. The routine was fun. Len liked the mix of jive and tango. Carrie Ann enjoyed the personality of the group. Bruno called out Shangela for missing a lift. Team Wicked earned 33/40.

Team Scream

Trevor is the team captain. He picked Daniel, Wayne, and Charli. The group performed to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Heads Will Roll.” Derek loved the murder mystery concept and the creativity. He praised Daniel’s performance. Carrie Ann called the performance “amazing.” Team Scream earned 39/40.

The Elimination

Now at the top of the leaderboard is a tie between Trevor and Emma and Charli and Mark. Vinny and Koko are at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Jordin and Brandon and Heidi and Artem are in the bottom two. Carrie Ann saves Heidi and Artem, while Derek picks Jordin and Brandon. Bruno also saves Brandon and Jordin. Len picks Heidi and Artem, and as the head judge, he casts the tie-breaking vote. So, it is the end of Jordin’s DWTS journey.

I would also like to mention that Charli, Selma Blair, and DWTS were all nominated for People’s Choice Awards!

Actress Selma Blair was one of the most inspiring contestants on Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars. She turned in great performances every week with her pro partner, Sasha Farber.
Unfortunately, during the “Most Memorable Year” episode on October 17, 2022, Selma announced that she was withdrawing from DWTS due to health concerns. In 2018, Selma was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, also known as MS. Symptoms of MS include pain, difficulty walking, fatigue, and speech and memory issues, per the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

In a pre-taped package, Selma explained to Sasha why she needed to withdraw. “I had these MRIs and when the results came back, it just all adds up to I can’t. I can’t go on with the competition,” Selma said. “I pushed as far as I could.”

The Legally Blonde actress wanted to do one final dance with Sasha. The duo performed a lovely waltz to “What the World Needs Now Is Love” by Andra Day. The judges gave the couple a score of 40/40, even though it wouldn’t be counted for the DWTS competition. There were plenty of tears in the ballroom as the judges, dance pros, and Selma’s co-stars celebrated her achievement.

Selma spoke to Page Six  after her final performance. She explained, “This was a really emotional night for me. Because it was filled with so much love for me and my love for everyone here is really, really, really returned,” Selma added.

The actress also reflected on what she learned about herself from appearing on DWTS. “I learned that I could do things that I didn’t even think I wanted to do anymore. I learned that with passion and [hope] that you could feel as beautiful as the people that you’re watching,” Selma remarked. “That it can be inspiring.” Selma truly embodied grace when she danced.

“For me, there’s never any, like, despair in comparison when you’re with a crowd like this, with these celebrities and these pros,” Selma stated. “I’m so proud of this show and this production for welcoming a couple of us [like Daniel Durant, who is deaf] where it’s just a little extra of a challenge. But look at the way we just prove ourselves in different ways,” she added.

Sasha also weighed in on Selma’s exit, stating that it was an inspiring journey to be partnered with “an icon.” He said, “There aren’t enough words to say how proud I am. She is a true inspiration,” Sasha stated. “She has not only inspired myself but so many people around the world … there’s nothing this lady can’t do.”

Page Six reported in September of 2022 that Selma had to convince her team that she should join the DWTS cast. She signed on just “four or five days” before the cast announcement.
“There was terror and nerves because I don’t have experience dancing, like, with steps,” Selma explained. “I can pose like a dancer for maybe two seconds.”

She continued, “But once I decided and convinced my team that I could do this, that it wasn’t going to be too dangerous for me, that I could do this, [it was OK].” Selma added, “We do these things we want to find joy in.”

Selma’s good friend and Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar came to support Selma in the ballroom. After Selma exited DWTS, Sarah Michelle posted a sweet tribute to her friend on Instagram. “Long before @dancingwiththestars I knew you were a ten, and now the world knows,” Sarah Michelle wrote. “Selma, I’ve never been so proud of you (and I’m often proud of you.)”

Selma truly made an impression with the joy and positivity that she brought to the ballroom.

Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars has been notable for several reasons. Popular pro Mark Ballas returned to the show after a five-year break.

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela is partnered with pro Gleb Savchenko as the first all-male pairing in DWTS history. During Season 30, JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson were the show’s first same-sex pairing.

Cruel Intentions actress Selma Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, joined the cast. Selma’s illness affects both her movement and her balance. Selma and her DWTS partner, Sasha Farber, delivered fantastic performances week after week.

On October 17, 2022, Selma had to withdraw from the competition. In a pre-taped package, she shared that she couldn’t continue because of the toll it was taking on her health. “I can’t go on with the competition. I pushed as far as I could,” she told Sasha.

The duo danced a final waltz together, which moved many people to tears. The judges gave Selma and Sasha a perfect score of 40/40, even though it didn’t count for the competition. I loved how Selma always danced with grace and strength.

Judge Derek Hough spoke to Page Six about Selma’s exit. “We were told right before the show started [that she was leaving],” Derek stated. “It was a big surprise, a big shock to us, but also, it was the right thing to do long term for longevity.”

He continued, “But I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Selma. She made such a huge impact on the show. One thing I was most impressed by about Selma was … there’s not a wasted word in what she says,” Derek remarked. “Every word is so meaningful, so powerful. And, man, what a beautiful send-off,” he added.

Derek was also impressed by how genuine the actress was to everyone, including the makeup and hair team and the crew. “She’s so kind, so gracious, just so excited, never complains. Of all the people that could probably complain, she didn’t,” Derek stated. “She just got on with it because she loved it. She loved being here and she loved the people. For me, that’s very important,” he said.

“She has forever left her mark on this show, without a doubt. I think that what she achieved and what she did — and the way she did it, with such grace — it’s just perfection,” Derek commented.
Selma’s DWTS co-stars also weighed in on working with Selma. The Bachelorette star Gabby Windey said, “I think we turned into teammates, in a sense, even though we’re in a competition. It’s heartbreaking for a lot of us, but she does have to put herself first.” Gabby’s partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, added, “She’s a great dancer, she’s an amazing, impactful performer … and off-camera, she’s just a wonderful person.”

“She’s my homegirl!” Shangela stated. “Because she represents such strength, such courage, such kindness, beauty, talent, all rolled into one. Her presence is most definitely going to be missed in this ballroom,” he added. Gleb called Selma “just the sweetest, nicest, person” he’s met.

Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino, who struggles with anxiety before every performance in the ballroom, said that Selma leaving DWTS “ripped” his heart out. And American Idol alum Jordin Sparks stated, “We love Selma, we adore her, and we’re definitely gonna miss her here.”

“This was a really emotional night for me,” Selma told Page Six. “Because it was filled with so much love for me and my love for everyone here is really, really, really returned.”
