Season 4 of The Traitors has been nothing short of iconic. The cast has been a great mix of reality TV personalities, blended with some athletes and poor Donna Kelce. In addition, host Alan Cumming has kept players and viewers on their toes.

Not only is Alan serving us looks to die for, but he has amped up the pressure in the castle. Not only for the Faithfuls, but also for the Traitors. Alan selected Real Housewives alums Lisa Rinna and Candiace Dillard Bassett to don the cloak. In addition, Love Island USA star Rob Rausch joined them. In a game-changing twist, Alan picked a Secret Traitor at the start of the game. No one knew their identity, including the other Traitors. It was a powerful position in this game.

Of course, this season of The Traitors has already made its mark, and the game isn’t even over! Let’s take a look at the way Season 4 has already made history.

The Traitors Season 4 saw a murdered contestant make an accusation for the first time

Alan has been putting the Traitors through it this season! They committed one murder in plain sight, as well as a face-to-face murder. Then, Alan tasked them with the craziest challenge of all: a murder in front of all the players. Of course, Lisa volunteered to wear the ruby brooch to the banquet. If a Faithful touched it, they would die.

“This is like the Super Bowl of murders,” Lisa noted as she prepared to enter the Black Banquet. This former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star loves the drama! And both the paranoia and fashion game at this dinner were next-level.

Lisa targeted Yam Yam Arocho by asking him to adjust her statement jewelry. Perfect plan. Zero notes. Then, Alan arrived with two executioners and announced yet another twist. Someone had been murdered, but there were two antidotes. Two players could drink the serum, and if they were the ones who were cursed, they would survive. After squabbling and nearly wrestling over the antidote, Survivor star Natalie Anderson and Kristen Kish drank it.

Unfortunately, for Yam Yam, his time was up. When Alan announced that he had been murdered, Yam Yam wasted no time pointing at Lisa. As he was dragged away, he yelled, “Lisa. It was Lisa that kissed me. Lisa!”

Of course, Lisa denied it, but having the murder victim accuse you was pretty damning evidence. And try as she might, she was unable to shift enough people to vote for Natalie. This was the first time in the history of Traitors that a murder victim made an accusation. Was Yam Yam partly wrong? Yes. But he was correct that it was Lisa, and it spelled her doom in the game.

Two Real Housewives alumni were immediately chosen as Traitors

We have seen Real Housewives players in the turret during other seasons. During Season 2, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks was literally killing it until her fellow Traitor, Dan Gheesling, turned on her.

During Season 3, the turret was filled with mostly gamers, including Survivor’s Carolyn Wiger and “Boston Rob” Mariano, along with Big Brother alum Danielle Reyes. Plus, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Bob the Drag Queen was part of this high-octane group. This turret was filled with tension, suspicion, and ultimately, traitor-on-traitor attacks. During a round table, Boston Rob ousted Bob, but on the way out, Bob dropped a hint that Rob was a Traitor. Can’t these Traitors just get along?

It was a different story for Season 3. There were five housewives in the castle, and Alan selected Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candiace and Lisa as Traitors. This marked the first time that two housewives shared the castle’s turret.

For the first several episodes of the season, this traitorous trio worked together in murderous harmony. However, Rob eventually voted for Lisa at an earlier round table, so he didn’t look suspicious voting for his faithful allies. And now, Robby Bobby is in big trouble with Candiace after Lisa’s banishment. Hell hath no fury like an angry housewife. Buckle up!

The Secret Traitor twist made history, but might need a rework

Perhaps the biggest twist in the game was the introduction of the Secret Traitor. This player was selected as soon as the group arrived, but their identity was a secret to everyone but Alan. Their superpower was the ability to create a short list of players to be murdered. The regular Traitors had to select victims from this list. So, the Secret Traitor held a great deal of power.

From the jump, the contestants were suspicious of Travis Kelce’s mom, Donna. They felt that she was too quiet and observant. In the end, Bachelor alum Colton Underwood latched onto this theory and pushed it forward, resulting in Donna being banished during Episode 3. In a jaw-dropping moment, it was revealed that she was the red-robed Secret Traitor.

While this plot twist made history, it also might need a bit of work. Having the Secret Traitor ousted almost immediately felt like the concept was a throwaway. Perhaps introducing the Secret Traitor a couple of episodes in would heighten the tension and allow the Secret Traitor a chance to be more involved in the gameplay. It could also cause a bit of chaos in the turret, which is always a gift for Traitors’ viewers.

The Traitors is available to stream on Peacock.
