Dr. Contessa’s Florida girls trip continued this week on Married to Medicine, and when we last left off, Dr. Heavenly had just arrived totally unannounced. Her surprise appearance left everyone confused, shocked, and a little concerned.
In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 9, “Unexpected Consequences,” we see the aftermath of “Hurricane Heavenly” making landfall. Surprisingly, things didn’t completely spiral into chaos.
What happened in Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 9?

After Heavenly’s surprise appearance in Florida, some of the ladies tried to broker peace between her and Dr. Simone. Of course, that was like pulling teeth because neither of these ladies wanted to budge and had their own versions of what went down between them at Angel’s party. In the end, however, they did make some progress. Whether or not that will last is the real question.
Heavenly’s arrival sparked confusion

Ahead of the trip, Heavenly made it very clear she had no intention of going. She wanted to steer clear of Simone’s “unhinged” behavior at the Life Angels party. So, when she suddenly appeared in Florida without giving anyone a heads up, her friends were left feeling a little confused. Contessa planned the trip, and even she didn’t know Heavenly would be there.
Heavenly offered up plenty of reasons for why she arrived late: she needed to clear her mind, she was afraid of Heavenly, and she was hanging out with her husband for his birthday. Ultimately, the viewers at home found out what really happened. Quad told Heavenly that Simone was talking about her, and Heavenly was on the next flight to Florida to come defend herself.
When Simone realized Heavenly had arrived on the trip, she seemed puzzled by the whole thing. If Heavenly feels “unsafe” around her, why even show up?
Simone and Heavenly reached a stalemate

Once Heavenly settled in, the group sat down for dinner, complete with a private chef who had a questionable accent. He cooked up a feast, but they barely had time to enjoy it. The dinner conversation quickly went to Simone and Heavenly’s rift.
Contessa asked Heavenly to explain why she showed up, and it quickly devolved into her and Simone relitigating what happened at Angel’s party. Did Simone shove Heavenly? Are they both living in an alternate reality? They can’t agree.
Simone felt adamant that she didn’t push Heavenly or try to get physical with her in any way. She felt especially frustrated about being labeled as “unhinged” because she worried it undermined her credibility as a physician. It’s a concern that some of the other physicians in the group shared as well.
While Simone seemed ready to write off the friendship entirely, Dr. Jackie stepped in, like she always does. She encouraged her to hear Heavenly out and consider that both women were speaking from a place of hurt.
Dr. Jackie broke through to Heavenly
When it comes to the relationship between Heavenly and Simone, someone is going to have to be the bigger person and apologize. Jackie tried to get both of the ladies to consider making peace. They’re both navigating through difficult times at home and should lean on each other instead of pushing each other away.
While Simone seemed hesitant, Jackie broke through to Heavenly. Between the estranged relationship with her son and the stress of launching a political campaign, she’s not in a good place. Jackie told her to consider it a “divine intervention” and to use it to help foster a stronger connection with Simone. However, the first step in doing that has to be an apology.
Is Toya jeopardizing Heavenly and Simone’s progress?

Every time that it seemed like Heavenly and Simone could start inching toward a breakthrough in their conversations, here comes Toya, drink in hand, ready to throw some fuel on the fire. While her potstirring ways are great for reality TV, she’s preventing the group from moving forward.
Several of the ladies have clocked this behavior from Toya, but Dr. Mimi has been the most vocal. She’s been keeping a close eye on Toya’s behavior, along with her alcohol intake.
During the third day of the trip, Contessa wanted to allow Heavenly to address the group. She specifically told the ladies to let Heavenly speak for a few minutes without interruption. Heavenly barely got a sentence out before Toya started jumping in and making the conversation about her.
That prompted both Mimi and Angel to stand up for Heavenly and refocus the attention away from Toya. Thank goodness for the newbies this season. Without them, these veteran cast members would be on a path to nowhere.
Heavenly and Simone called a truce
Despite Toya’s attempts at derailing the conversation, Heavenly went straight up to Simone and had a heart-to-heart about what happened at the Life Angel’s party. She decided to be the bigger person and apologized for calling Simone “unhinged.” Deep under all of the layers of messiness and reality TV drama, there is a friendship here, and Heavenly knows it’s worth saving.
Simone accepted the apology, and they agreed to move forward. However, she’s not fully sold. In her confessional, Simone told the viewers that she’s still looking at Heavenly with a side eye. She’s not convinced that Heavenly can commit to being a good friend.
Simone said, “We can be cordial. I can kick it, have fun, but I’ve got both eyes on you, ma’am.”
Married to Medicine airs on Bravo on Sundays at 9/8c. It streams on Peacock.
